MEDITATION
The affairs of the world go on forever.
Do not delay the practice of meditation.
-Milarepa
To observe the mind, to recognize what the mind is and the relationship with all that exists.
Using the breath to coordinate the body, to smooth the energy, and regulate the mind, thus calming the spirit.
By definition, meditation is to think, contemplate, or ponder; or to think deeply about.
There are two broad categories of meditative practices:
Open methods, where awareness is expanded. One popular practice is called mindfulness.
Focus methods, where awareness is concentrated. The focus may be on the breath, an object, a word or phrase, or a concept, etc.
We practice both methods separately and in conjunction. The purpose of this practice is to increase awareness and understanding of the self and how the mind works. Meditation may significantly reduce stress, fear, anxiety, depression, and pain, and enhance peace, perception, self-concept, and well-being.
Bringing together practices and techniques passed down from Zen, Vajrayana, Qigong and Kabbalah to develop a simple, embodied and non-sectarian approach to:
- relax in any situation
- dissolve stress and anxiety
- improve physical and mental health
- be in charge of emotions and thoughts
- enhance focus
- understand and illuminate the self
For those who seek to embrace the sun and hold the moon as one act.
And walk the path back to the master within.
A deep bow to that courage and determination.
May we humbly be a friend along the way.
